Pepper

anh_7676b_webLast month, I shot Pepper in concert at Bogarts in Cincinnati, OH. They are part of the Jagermeister Music Tour 2009 with Authority Zero and Pennywise. The trio is from Kona, Hawaii and play a blend of alternative pop/rock, punk, and reggae. It was a fantastic high energy show. Be sure to catch the tour if it comes to a town near you this summer.

Check out the photos from the whole show in the Music Link.

The trio consists of  Yesod Williams - Drums / Kaleo Wassman - Guitar & Vocals / Bret Bollinger - Bass & Vocals.

Their latest album Pink Crustaceans and Good Vibration came out in 2008.

Anya Marina

anh_0563_800pixI met Anya Marina while in New Orleans for a photo shoot. A friend who had seen her before recommended that I go to her show at the last minute on Friday night. I took some shots of her in action that can be seen in the Music Link.

She is currently on tour with the Virgins and Lissy Trullie. All three bands were awesome to see in the intimate venue in NOLA.

Anya had a single on Grey’s Anatomy called “Miss Halfway” which is featured on the Grey’s Soundtrack and plays in one of my favorite episodes. Her current album Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II has some fantastic tracks including “All the Same to Me.” The new album is featured in the live show.

Check her out on itunes or on her website: http://www.myspace.com/anyamarina

PQA Flash Clinic New Orleans

Bryan & I attended a Photo Quest Adventures Flash Clinic  anh_1189_640pix(www.photoquestadventures.com) this weekend in New Orleans. We had models all weekend in various urban scenes around the iconic city. The workshops are sponsored by Nikon and Bogen imaging so we had the latest lighting gear to play with. Our leader was Tom Bol (www.tombolphoto.com) who is one of our all time favorites.

We learned a ton of uses for multiple off camera flash techniques as well as larger gear like softboxes and the Elinchrom Octabank Lights. I have to say I fell quickly in love with the Octabank and will own one. It is perfect with the mobile battery pack for outdoor shoots and an amazing single light 1729urban1source for outdoor portraits. TOTALLY Amazing effects!

There were definitely many distractions in NOLA including hurricanes and long island iced teas, but I learned a ton about lighting and really feel like I can do it on my own now, so the workshops are highly recommended as they come to a city near you!
